The new school year in public and private schools across Sindh is set to start on April 15, 2024, according to the announcement from the Sindh Education Department.
This decision was made during a meeting of a lower committee of the provincial steering committee, led by Sindh Caretaker Education Minister Rana Hussain, on Monday. Various matters were discussed, including the commencement dates for the academic year and the vacation schedule.
According to the spokesperson, the academic year for Sindh's colleges will begin on August 1 next year. The schedule for summer and winter vacations from the previous year will be followed, with a 15-day training program planned for teachers during the summer break.
Matriculation and intermediate exams are scheduled to start in the last week of May 2024, with results expected to be announced on July 31 and the second week of August, respectively.
In another development related to education, the Lahore High Court has instructed the government to close all schools and colleges on Saturdays in Punjab due to the failure of provincial authorities to control smog. Last week, the Punjab government declared a public holiday on November 10 in several districts, including Lahore and Gujranwala, due to prevailing smog, resulting in the closure of various establishments. The lockdown was lifted after heavy rain improved air quality in parts of Punjab.
