In a groundbreaking development, Pakistan's first female astronaut, Namira Salim, is about to make history with a journey to space, as reported by Khaleej Times.

Based in Dubai, Namira, who had proudly raised Pakistan’s flag at the North Pole in 2007, is set to commence her celestial expedition on October 5.

Virgin Galactic Holdings, a space tourism company, has announced the launch window for their Galactic 04 flight, scheduled for next month. Namira secured the position of Astronaut No 6 after Virgin Galactic's Founder Astronaut, Richard Branson, assigned her a seat. Her maiden voyage into space will be facilitated by Astronaut 019.

Back in 2006, the Government of Pakistan officially recognized Namira as the country's first astronaut. She also served as an honorary ambassador of tourism for Pakistan in 2007.

Namira achieved another milestone by becoming the first Pakistani to reach the North Pole in April 2007 and the South Pole in January 2008.

Furthermore, she holds the distinction of being the first Asian and first Pakistani to skydive over Mount Everest in 2008. Her accomplishments were acknowledged when she was awarded the 'Tamgha-e-Imtiaz' (Medal of Excellence) in 2011.

Murtaza Solangi, the Caretaker Minister for Information and Broadcasting, highlighted that Namira Salim's upcoming journey to space reflects Pakistan's expanding presence in space exploration and marks a significant achievement for the nation.

Namira briefed the caretaker minister about her preparations for the space journey and her determination to proudly represent Pakistan in space.

Solangi conveyed congratulations to Namira Saleem on behalf of the Government of Pakistan, Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, and the people. He also expressed best wishes for her success.

Referring to Namira Saleem as a role model for all women, Solangi emphasized that the younger generation has the potential to elevate Pakistan's reputation globally in various fields.

He also noted that Namira's efforts would shine a positive light on Pakistan as a peace-loving and progressive nation.
